I applied for my AP in august 2007 my case was approved but i didnot get the document . When i called USCIS they told me to reapply for AP .
Now i got the AP document but the date issued is october 12 2008 to october 2009 .
But I want to travel outside in August . Can i use this AP , is the document valid , if i go i cant enter before october 12 2008 .

Totally disagree. Only a small %age of employers pay the fees, rest is all borne by the applicant. This includes universities, companies etc. There are so many components of fees that everything is not covered by employer.
Do most of the companies cover EAD (every year), Adv. parole (every year), I 485 etc.. fees. The arguemnt given by USCIS (read their website) for I 485 increase is that it will be processed in 6 months and therfore no need to apply for EAD and AP fees. The argument is fallible is that it does not counts retrogression adn name check, it is simply assumed everyone will get their I485 processed in 6 months.
They are not using technology (because they can't hire more H1b and softwarre professional) but using the excessive money to support theeri old fashioned systems.
What a mess 180% fees increase on most of the applications?
I guess I am that lucky that my employer pays all the fees afterall. I also think it's a good idea to make it mandatory for the employers to carry the burden of the fees, at least through the I-485 filing process. Then if they refuse -- they definitely don't need a foreign laborer that much as they claim, it's only fair.
But then again, opposition to the fees increase coming from the most well off group of prospective immigrants doesn't really pass a laugh test, especially with such immigration opponents as Sen. Sessions and Co. "If you are saying that you are here to contribute to our country and its economy -- start with the fees, please". White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove today spoke for the second time in two weeks at a private meeting of House Republicans to seek a compromise between the Senate and the House.
Rove, during his appearance, heard complaints from representatives who oppose the Senate's immigration proposal, according to lawmakers who attended.
``Even I, optimistic as I am about a lot of things around here, see an immigration bill -- with so few calendar days left - - hard to reconcile,'' said Representative Mark Foley, a Florida Republican who attended the meeting.

Ron Bonjean, a spokesman for House Speaker Dennis Hastert, said Hastert won't move a final compromise measure to the House floor unless it is supported by a majority of the House's 231 Republicans -- not a majority of all House members.

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay told reporters that passage of a final measure may be helpful in fall elections in which Republicans have ``the wind in our face'' as they work to keep control of the House.

Call me paranoid...but I am wondering the exact same thing that how come Tancredo, et.al. are not making any noises...if you remember last time these congressmen were making a lot of noise and the bill went nowhere, now in hindsight, I think internally they knew that the bill will not pass the senate at that time and were making the most of it. Similarly, the silence is ominous because it means they probably have some surprises lined up at the conference. BTW, do we know who will be on the conference from both the Senate as well as the house? Also, are the conference proceedings publicised?

Any one successful in last 2 weeks in scheduling a Visa appointment in Hyderababad consulate? For last 2 weeks I have been trying to schedule an appointment and it displays message "try after some time" on the vfs-co.in site.

labor certificate for gc application and LCA for H1 are two different things. labor certificate for gc application is for a future job and employer is certifying that they will pay you per gc labor certificate once you get your gc and has nothing to do with h1 LCA.

I agree that we need to add a poll on how many are already waiting for adjudication in I-485. This will give a better understanding of visa dates will move going forward. I am sure state dept doesn't expect people applying in June to get their GC anytime before 2008.

I am having the same problem. i did not know about the 180 days rule until my LC had expired. what did your lawyer tell u to do? did he call uscis to explain? did he call DOL to see if they could extended the LC? please reply to this. i am going to lose my PD of 020106 if i can"t get them to accept the LC.
